Fostering a community of growing Malaysian debaters
The inspiration behind this project comes from the journey of a Malaysian debater who had gone through the public education system for all 11 years, and felt that their years spent debating had been one of the most transformative ones. Hence, we wish to bring the same debating journey to more students in Malaysia.
We became global citizens who were ready to challenge our intuitions, which were shaped by cultural & social upbringing. Most of us would credit a boost of self-esteem and empowerment in which our voices were being heard, through debate tournaments; For all those reasons, we think it's a good cause to extend that opportunity to grow, beyond the rigid selection in public schools & bias towards 'good' speakers to be selected as a debater in schools across Malaysia.
We believe that no matter the level of proficiency, everyone should be given the chance to enjoy the process of brainstorming opinions about critical topics & learn the art of persuasive speaking.
